Aerobatic perfection doesn't necessarily need a huge engine.

Please welcome Bob Grimstead on his debut at Old Buckenham. As you can probably tell from the video, it's far from his Airshow debut.

It's also, probably, the first time we've had a motor glider. Bob's Fournier RF4 is just that - light, huge wings and can be kept in the air for ages using thermals alone - the engine is optional.

It's not optional in Bob's display though because he's working hard to keep everything extremely smooth. He needs to be extremely smooth in fact because unlike most aerobatic aircraft his RF4 can't power it's way through - it's only got 39hp and the engine is out of a VW Beetle. It's also entirely made of wood and, despite the huge wings, engine and fuel tank weighs an absurdly light 270kg.

So it's very different, as is Bob's demonstration that skill can conquer horsepower.
